FAQ

What MotifPilot does—and what it doesn’t.

Direct answers about Studio, the new Library, MIDI export, local storage, pricing, supported devices, and the boundaries of the app.

At a glance

Three facts before the details.

Product scope

Four MIDI tracks, not a finished song.

Studio creates chords, bass, arp, and melody. You still choose sounds, arrange, mix, and finish elsewhere.

Local Library

Projects and export records stay on device.

Browse, search, tag, rename, share, export again, or delete local work without an account or sync service.

Export truth

Standard MIDI leaves through the iOS share sheet.

Share a combined starter, individual active-track MIDI files, a plain-text guide, and a ZIP package when available.

What is MotifPilot?

MotifPilot is a local-first MIDI sketching app that creates editable chord, bass, arp, and melody tracks from clear musical controls.

Is MotifPilot available now?

MotifPilot is available now on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.

What changed in version 1.0.6?

Version 1.0.6 adds the Library tab, improves MIDI export and sharing, refreshes the interface, expands key selection to all 12 pitch classes, adds Next idea, and adds more starter style directions.

What does it generate?

MotifPilot generates 4, 8, or 16 bar MIDI sketches with chords, bass, arp, and melody. You can set genre, mood, key, scale, tempo, complexity, humanize, and swing, then preview, vary, edit, and export the result.

Who is it best for?

MotifPilot is built for electronic music producers, songwriter-producers, and mobile producers who want editable MIDI before arranging, sound design, mixing, or final production work.

What does the Library store?

Library keeps up to 20 projects and 30 export records on the device. You can browse projects and exports, search, filter by tags, rename items, share or export again, delete items, batch-delete projects or exports, and batch-share exports.

Is it an AI prompt-to-MIDI app?

No. MotifPilot is not a chat-style AI prompt-to-MIDI service. It uses clear musical controls and a local generation workflow so you can steer the result without writing prompts.

Is there a subscription?

No. MotifPilot is sold as a paid App Store download. It does not use accounts, subscriptions, in-app purchases, or an in-app paywall.

Does it require an account or cloud sync?

No. Up to 20 projects and 30 export records stay on device. The website does not provide accounts, project sync, or backend music generation.

How does export work?

MotifPilot exports a combined starter and active-track MIDI files through the iOS share sheet, so you can move material through Files, AirDrop, or another app in your production setup.

What is inside an export package?

An export can include a combined starter MIDI file, individual MIDI files for active chord, bass, arp, and melody tracks, a plain-text DAW import guide, and a ZIP package.

Will the exported MIDI work in every DAW?

MotifPilot exports Standard MIDI through the iOS share sheet, which is meant for DAW handoff. The exact import behavior depends on the DAW, plugin, device, and destination you choose.

Does MotifPilot create finished audio?

No. MotifPilot creates editable MIDI material. You still choose sounds, arrange, mix, and finish the track in your production tools.
