Privacy Policy

The short version

MotifPilot is built around on-device MIDI drafting. We do not sell your data, do not use advertising SDKs, and the native app does not operate an account or project-sync service. The web workspace does not require an account. You decide when to export or share MIDI files.

Overview

MotifPilot helps producers create chord, bass, arp, and melody starters from musical controls such as style, key, scale, tempo, bar count, density, harmonic detail, humanize, and swing. The app stores projects, generated notes, export records, chord selections, editing state, and generated export files as part of the local app experience on your device.

Data handled by the app

The app may process the following information so it can generate, preview, edit, vary, and export MIDI material:

• Musical settings you choose, such as style, key, scale, tempo, bars, density, harmonic detail, swing, and humanize.
• Generated MIDI notes, chord progressions, track selections, variations, and light edits.
• Project and export records used to keep the workflow available inside the app.

This information is used to provide the app's music workflow. It is not used for advertising, resale, or third-party tracking.

On-device diagnostics

The app does not send product analytics, usage events, crash data, or performance data to a MotifPilot server. We use Apple's MetricKit only to retain recent diagnostics locally on the device.

You can create a diagnostic JSON report from Settings and inspect or share it through the system share sheet. The report leaves the device only when you explicitly choose a destination.

What this website does

This website is an account-free MIDI tool. All styles generate in your browser; preview, note editing and MIDI export also stay in the browser. Musical settings and generated notes are not sent to our Worker or stored in a cloud project library. IndexedDB stores your current draft, saved projects and export snapshots in this browser. Appearance preferences use localStorage. You can delete saved entries in Library and download a JSON backup. Clearing site data removes all local work; downloaded files remain wherever you saved them. There is no cross-device or iOS synchronization. No microphone access is required.

If you connect an MCP client to our optional /mcp endpoint, the musical parameters you submit are processed on our Cloudflare Worker to generate MIDI and return it to your client. This endpoint does not use an AI model or persist your settings or generated files in a cloud project library.

The web tool has no Google sign-in, AI agent, credits, checkout, advertising, or cross-device sync. Optional website analytics are separate from the MIDI workflow and load only after your consent.

Cloudflare may process basic request information such as an IP address, user agent, requested URL, and timestamp to deliver and protect the website. We do not use that request data to build an advertising profile or connect it to projects stored inside the app.

With your permission, we use Google Analytics to understand website traffic and Microsoft Clarity to understand which pages people visit, where they click and scroll, and where navigation is confusing. Clarity provides heatmaps and session replays of website interactions. This website analysis does not access MIDI projects, files, or activity inside the MotifPilot app.

Microsoft may process page URLs, interaction events, device and browser information, and online identifiers. Clarity masks sensitive content by default and may use first-party and third-party cookies under its applicable consent settings. We load Google Analytics and Clarity only after you allow analytics, keep advertising consent denied, and mask the studio controls and notes. You can change or withdraw consent through Analytics settings in the footer. We do not send names, email addresses, or app user IDs through Clarity's Identify API. Third-party services

The MotifPilot app does not use ad networks or analytics SDKs. We rely on Apple platform services for app distribution, optional operating-system backup, MetricKit diagnostics, and storefront payment processing, and on Cloudflare to deliver the website, and Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity for optional website usage analysis. Apple and Cloudflare may process purchase, diagnostic, backup, or device-related information under their own policies.Borealbit does not receive your payment card details.

Permissions

MotifPilot's core MIDI drafting workflow does not need internet, microphone, camera, contacts, photos, advertising ID, or location access. If a future version requests a new permission, it should be explained in the app and reflected in this policy before the feature is released.

Exporting and sharing

Sharing is user-initiated. When you export MIDI through the system share sheet, the exported file is controlled by the destination you choose, such as a file manager, AirDrop, a DAW, cloud storage, email, or another app. Review the privacy practices of those destinations before sending files there.

Retention and deletion

The app retains its local project library and export packages until you delete them or remove the app. Copies exported through the share sheet are controlled by the place where you save or send them. Support emails may be retained as needed to respond to your request, maintain business records, and protect the service. Local MetricKit diagnostics remain on the device until they are pruned or the app is removed. A diagnostic report is controlled by the destination you choose.

Children's privacy

MotifPilot is intended for music makers and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through advertising or tracking systems.

Your choices

You can avoid sending us personal information by not emailing support, not sharing a diagnostic report with us, and keeping exports on your own device. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information we hold about you. Contact us if you want to make a privacy request.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as MotifPilot changes. If the app adds accounts, sync, payments, server-side music features, or materially broader analytics, this policy should be updated before those features are exposed.
